Lizzie Velasquez was born with neonatal progeroid syndrome, which affected her facial features and prevents her from gaining weight. One day on YouTube, she saw a video that called her the ugliest woman in the world. She was devastated, until she was asked to speak at a school. She saw compassion on students’ faces, and realized she doesn’t have to let her syndrome — or other people — define her. Even if you’ve seen her wonderful Tedx talk before, this short video is a wonderful reinforcement that one’s values, feelings and dreams should be their standard of beauty.
