A fifth-grade student in Sacramento is starting a social movement to make the world a better place.
10-year-old Leah Nelson formed a program called “Becuz I Care” that is aimed at inspiring people to be kind to each other. And she incorporated her love of bracelets into the kindness.
“I just want the world to be a better place,” Nelson said. “I mean there’s many issues and people are mad about the issues, and if you’re mad about the issues, why don’t you take action to try and change them?”
Becuz I Care bracelets, which Nelson distributes, are given when someone performs a random act of kindness for someone else. After completing the act, the do-gooder bestows the bracelet on the lucky recipient, and instructs them to pass the bracelet on at their next opportunity for a similar random act of kindness.
Nelson’s fashion-forward program has sparked a tremendous social media movement with people thanking her with the hashtag #BecuzICare11:
