Showing empathy in the midst of fright

Being robbed is a nightmare situation. Most of us don’t even want to consider how we would react if it happened to us, but social worker Julio Diaz was heading home from work in the Bronx when he was held up at knifepoint by a young teenager. Instead of reacting in a frightened or angry way, Julio responded with an incredible and potentially life-changing level of empathy. This short film created by StoryCorps, in conjunction with Upworthy, tells his story. It is AWESOMELY worth the time to watch it.
