True heroes

In 1945, U.S. soldier Sid Shafner helped liberate around 30,000 prisoners from the Dachau concentration camp in southern Germany. A few weeks ago, 94-year-old Shafner was honored at a Holocaust remembrance ceremony. While there, he was reunited with Marcel Levy, age 90, one of the prisoners he had saved. Amid tears, Levy told Shafner, “Everything I have today, all of my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, is due to you, Sid.”
